Lindsey Hjelm '13 on being a Gustie Alumni Athlete

Meet Lindsey Hjelm, a Gustie alumna from the Class of 2013 and former Women's Hockey player. During her time on campus, Lindsey was the January 2013 Student-Athlete of the Month, the MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week and scored her first career hat trick on Jan. 26, 2013. She was also named the Female Athlete of the Year for the 2012-2013 season.

She majored in Biology with minors in Studio Art and Religious Studies. After graduation, Lindsey attended Des Moines University where she completed her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine before attending a surgical residency in Federal Way, Washington. She now serves as a Foot and Ankle Surgeon at St. Cloud Orthopedics.

In addition to her day job, Lindsey continues to support Gustavus Women's Hockey by serving on the Gustavus Athletics Leadership Council, attending Gustie alumni events, hockey games, and fundraisers, and regularly donates to Gustavus causes that are meaningful to her!
