Democracy and Public Policy Research Network Fund
Drawing upon the expertise, talent and knowledge of our University community, the Democracy and Public Policy Network (DePo) seeks to provide critical information to help citizens and policymakers understand their environments and make decisions to better serve the public good. Your gift ensures students and faculty can collaborate on writing and producing podcasts, organizing public engagement events, writing policy papers with the potential to guide government decision-making and launching public opinion polls to understand what Ohioans really think. Support for this fund helps our students and faculty engage in the critical work of civic literacy to strengthen the democratic process.
Institute for the Study of Culture & Society Activity Fund (ICS)
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, the Institute for the Study of Culture and Society (ICS) is a public humanities hub at BGSU that aims to encourage innovation in the arts, humanities and social sciences, and to share the value and significance of that work with the public. Undergraduate student interns and graduate assistants gain hands-on, career-building experiences in writing and producing podcasts, devising programming and marketing materials to promote it and conducting applied humanities research with faculty. Support to this fund ensures that the Institute for the Study of Culture of Society can continue to deliver high-impact programming and initiatives that empower BGSU faculty, students, staff and community members to leverage the strengths of the humanities in serving the public good.
Marc V. Simon Fund
Created in honor of Dr. Marc Vanderhaar Simon, a long-serving political science professor and department chair at Bowling Green State University, this fund supports student experiential learning opportunities related to conflict resolution and international relations. By donating to the Marc V. Simon fund, you will ensure BGSU students have opportunities to enhance their understanding of globalization and international affairs in a complex, interconnected world. The fund may be used to create curricular and cocurricular programming such as workshops, conferences, professional development activities, guest speakers, competitions (such as Model United Nations), programmatic operations and other needed support to further the Political Science Department, continuing the legacy of global learning set out by Dr. Simon.
Planetarium Support Fund
The BGSU Planetarium is a 114-seat public science theater that provides BGSU students, area schools and the community across northwest Ohio with public programming and stargazing sessions led by an enthusiastic team of faculty and students. Set under a 40-foot dome, the state-of-the-art SciDome video system immerses visitors in the cosmos and shows the sky as it might be seen from any place on the Earth at any time. Support to this fund ensures that high-quality programming in a state-of-the-art facility is available to the public for years to come.
College of Arts and Sciences Fund for Experiential Learning and Student Success
Hands-on learning transforms a student's education, opening doors to new opportunities and career pathways. This fund provides vital support for students engaging in experiential learning – whether through study abroad programs, internships, co-ops, faculty-led research, or courses with project-based and community-based learning components. Your gift empowers students to become career ready by applying their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.
AI and Digital Literacy Fund
Your donation to the AI and Digital Literacy Fund will ensure that the College of Arts and Sciences can provide new curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students that strengthen their digital literacy skills, particularly in this age of artificial intelligence. This fund supports experiential learning opportunities (like work-integrated learning and applied research) across the college, including in our first-in-the-nation Artificial Intelligence (AI) + X bachelor’s degree program, which allows students to personalize their education by combining artificial intelligence with a second disciplinary focus – including computer science, history, journalism, mathematics, physics and public relations. Through this fund, you’ll help to ensure BGSU students gain cutting-edge AI skills and the ability to apply them in another field to solve complex problems.
