"Hi! I’m Alexis Hogeland, a sophomore at Northern State University, and cheering for the Wolves has been my best NSU experience yet! Cheerleading at Northern State is unlike any cheer program; it is truly a family, not just a team. I joined the NSU Cheer team during my freshman year for the 2024-2025 basketball season, and I was welcomed with open arms and a truckload of positivity and support. With the love and support of my coaches and teammates, I haven’t just become a better cheerleader, I have become a better person too. Practices are unlike any other, it is full of trial and error, but we cheerleaders are always laughing through it. My teammates are some of the hardest-working people I know. We frankly accomplish a lot for how much fun we are having. I couldn’t have asked for a better team or coaches. For being a Cheerleader here at NSU, and through the guidance of my coaches, I have learned very important life lessons that will stick with me forever. I have learned the importance of responsibility, honesty, and being compassionate and positive in any situation. Life can throw many different things at you, but as long as I have the support of my coaches, teammates, and community, I believe I can accomplish anything. I am very proud to call myself an NSU Cheerleader. It has made me who I am today, and I hope I can continue making a positive change in game days and in the Northern community.
