Neurosurgery residents are highly valued in our department. Our program offers residents the opportunity to acquire knowledge and techniques they will use in their future practices and prepares them for future leadership roles in neurosurgery.

Neurosurgery residents dedicate PGY-4 and -5 years to research. Three resident research tracks include basic & translational science; clinical investigation & practice science; and education, service, policy, and equity, diversity & inclusion.

The Apfelbaum Resident Research fund was established to support neurosurgery residents and defray costs during their two years of research in the program by providing partial financial support in order to further the department’s mission of training neurosurgical leaders and researchers
