Students continue to take the lead as Trainers. Working with Connor requires not just time but both skill and attention, in addition to successful completion of certifications. Each student who trains Connor must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified along with the AdaptX Certified. Students create Connor’s training programs, with feedback from the Physical Therapist. Program creation takes time, research and creativity, as all movement must be modified in some form. Certified personal trainers, such as these students deserve an appropriate hourly pay. There must always be two student trainers present during training sessions, for safety. Connor currently trains 4days a week for 2 hours. In addition to training time, students must pick up and drop off Connor at his house, pre and post session. Student trainers typically work 10-12hrs/week.
Continued funding would allow for this project continue and grow this project as it moves from a capstone project to an ongoing partnership. Gifts to this would help support the Basic Life Skills and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certifications for students, as well as additional machinery and other expenses necessary to enhance these students' outstanding work and increase Connor’s mobility.
