Off-Campus Studies/Study Abroad

These funds would be used to help students who can not study off campus easily during a semester of the academic year to give them a chance to study away on summer programs offered either by other organizations or on Whitman faculty-led summer programs.  This would help fill a gap in our offerings and serve:

• Students who can't fit semester abroad into their schedules (such as STEM major and double majors)
• Transfer Students
• Students who need to jump start language studies, especially of languages not taught at Whitman
• Athletes
• Students who for personal reasons do not wish to be away for an entire semester

Support for activities and excursions that promote understanding of the US among our 200+ international students.  Day trips/activities could include things such as:

• Stand up Paddle Boarding on the Snake River
• Visit to historic Joseph with camping in the Wallowas
• Ice skating in Tri Cities
• Tamastslik Cultural Institute & Pendleton Underground Field Trip
• Walla Walla County Fair
