Evaluation of Electrocatalysts for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Hometown: Cary, North Carolina

Department: Chemistry

Advisor: William McNamara

My research focuses on identification and evaluation of inexpensive catalysts for Oxygen Reduction. This is important for hydrogen fuel cells that convert hydrogen and oxygen gas into electricity. Currently, one of the main limitations of hydrogen fuel cells is the use of inefficient and expensive platinum-based catalysts to reduce oxygen. Our efforts involve developing highly active catalysts made out of earth abundant materials to improve at this critical step. Thanks for your support!
