Enhancing the Capabilities of Infrared Microscopy Apparatus

Hometown:  Vancouver, Washington

Department:  Physics

Advisor:  Mumtaz Qazilbash

My research will consist of the design and implementation of a bolometer detector for use with our current infrared microscopy setup. This new detector will increase the range of wavelengths at which we can analyze the phonon properties of micron-scale samples. With the enhanced apparatus, I plan to collect data on thin-layered chalcogenide samples and to image domains in ferroelectric materials.
