The Role of SUMO Modification on Protein Mislocalization in Cancer

Hometown:Guangzhou, China

Department: Biology

Advisor: Oliver Kerscher

One hallmark of cancer is the altered protein localization within transformed cells. I hypothesize that SUMO, a small protein tag, plays a critical role in this mislocalization, and I will identify SUMO-modified proteins that are differentially localized within these cells. This is relevant because the role of sumoylation in protein localization may lead to the discovery of new disease markers.
