Resilience to Depression and Anxiety: Grit, Conscientiousness, and Mindfulness in Long Distance Runners

My Honors Thesis will examine grit , conscientiousness, and mindfulness as protective factors for anxiety and depression. In previous studies, long distance runners have reported higher levels of certain resilient traits as compared to non-runners. I hope to analyze whether or not long distance runners show different levels of grit, conscientiousness, and mindfulness compared to their peers who do not run, and the extent to which they can bolster resilience to mental illness.
