Characterizing the Subcellular Localization of Mutant Thyroid Hormone Alpha (Ala382ProfsX7)

Hometown: Bristow, Virginia

Department: Biology

Advisor: Lizabeth Allison

Description: Thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) target genes affecting physical and cognitive development and other metabolic processes. By characterizing the subcellular localization of the TRα1 mutant Ala382ProfsX7— implicated in a case of Resistance to Thyroid Hormone (RTH) syndrome—this research will expand our knowledge of RTH pathology and may elucidate avenues for future treatment of this condition.
