Paleoclimate History and Storm Variance in Sandsvatn, Faroe Islands

Hometown: Concord, Massachusetts

Department: Geology

Advisor: Nicholas Balascio

My Honors Thesis will study a sediment core from Lake Sandsvatn in the Faroe Islands, which will help interpret the past climate of the region. A high resolution record of grain size changes from this sediment core will provide a record of storm variance, and add a more complete understanding of the regional record of North Atlantic climate change. High resolution climate reconstructions can help us understand smaller scale changes in the North Atlantic, and eventually greater climate trends
