Creating Multicultural Curriculum for Social Studies Classrooms

My research involves analyzing the current Virginia Standards of Learning for Social Studies classes, in an effort to identify references to African American culture within the curriculum, as well as working towards creating a multicultural curriculum for social studies classes. In studying this curriculum, I seek to learn how to create curriculum that is a cultural reflection of the African American students in these classes.
Completing this Honors Fellowship will allow me to gain the basic knowledge of curriculum development, which I will use extensively in my career as an educator. This Honors project represents my first steps in my pursuit for education equity for all students of color.

All William & Mary Honors Fellowships fundraising supports the Charles Center Honors Fellowships Fund. Direct support for individual undergraduate research projects is distributed by the Roy R. Charles Center for Academic Excellence. To learn more about Honors Fellowships, please visit our About page. If you have questions, please visit our FAQ page.
