The most well-studied examples of speciation are in geographically isolated populations of plants and animals, but very little is known about eukaryotic microbial speciation. This project will thoroughly study a case of eukaryotic microbial speciation by investigating all the open reading frames and regulatory regions on genome of the wild yeast Saccharomyces paradoxus, in an attempt to obtain a complete picture of the effects of migration, adaptation, and speciation on a genetic level.

All William & Mary Honors Fellowships fundraising supports the Charles Center Honors Fellowships Fund. Direct support for individual undergraduate research projects is distributed by the Roy R. Charles Center for Academic Excellence
