Helicobacter pylori is a pathogenic bacterium that infects the human stomach where it causes chronic inflammation of the epithelial tissue that can lead to peptic ulcer disease or gastric cancer. My honors thesis will investigate the mechanism by which H pylori adapts to the acidic environment of the human stomach.
