The International Competition Team at William & Mary Law School was restarted last year after stopping in 2013. We participated in four international competitions last year (Jessup Moot Court, ICC Moot Court, Jean Pictet, and Clara Barton) and will be adding a fifth competition this year due to popular demand and success (Stetson International Environmental Moot Court).
The International Competition Team was restarted because there was a growing interest in international law, but limited options to grow our skills and make international connections.
Through the International Competition Team we have been able to learn interesting niche areas of international law while practicing our
oral advocacy and written advocacy skills. Our goal is to send our four teams to their competitions this year with registration fees and travel expenses. This year the competitions are in person and regionals and international competitions will incur travel expenses for our team.
Last year we were successful in our competitions, sending a team all the way to the semi-finals of the international rounds and placing first at regionals. This competition not only enriches the law students education while in school and gives them a unique experience, but highlights the successes of William & Mary.
