Title: Cellular motility defects in C. Elegans nematode sperm
Department: Biology
Description: This project will examine the C. elegans mutant spe-54 through analyses of motility and pseudopod morphology of spermatozoa. This project will explore the phenotypes of C. elegans sperm motility that occur when the spe-54 protein is not made in the cell. These analyses will contribute to the overall understanding of spermatozoa motility and the role of spe-54. This project plans to ultimately answer the question: What defect prevents spe-54 sperm from moving and thus reaching the oocytes for fertilization to occur?
