The Effects of Space on Hindu Devotional Objects in Museums and Temples
Hometown: Germantown, Tennessee
Department: Art and Art History
Advisor: Susan Webster
My Honors Thesis will analyze the spaces in which devotional Hindu objects are presented and how these spaces create and affect the meanings of the objects themselves, and I will conduct research and interviews with museum and temple personnel. The opportunity to understand the history of display, the perspectives objects incite, and the role of the museum in a multicultural, multiethnic society have all contributed to my desire to educate the public through art.
