One Day for Western is an opportunity for you to show your support and commitment to the Brinson Honors College. Your gifts will help provide critical funding to support a variety of initiatives within the Honors College, including support for students to study abroad, and the Dean's Fund - which will provide funding for mini grants and student travel.
Join us on One Day for Western and make a direct impact on our students and their experience at WCU. Our goal is for 25 donors to make a gift on March 29, but we can only get there with your help!
Thank you for being part of our very first One Day for Western! Check out this thank you video to hear from our campus community how much we appreciate your support. Go Cats!

Catamounts, you never cease to amaze me. The way you showed up to make one day possible was inspirational, especially in our inaugural year of this all-in giving day!
The initial numbers are in, and we are excited to share that 1,058 donors contributed over $260,000 on One Day for Western. And we're still counting. These gifts will enable amazing projects to materialize, life-changing trips to be taken, and critical programs to continue their good work throughout our community—and it’s all because of your generosity. We cannot wait to share these impact stories with you over the next several months so you can see your investment in action.
Thank you to everyone who gave, shared, or elevated our message on One Day for Western. We are beyond grateful for your support.
Go Cats!
Thankfully,

Rebekah B. Cheney

Student engagement is at the heart of the Brinson Honors College. During this year's One Day for Western, we ask our friends and alumni to help us support our wonderful honors students as they engage in community here in western NC and the world!
One of the pillars of the Honors Path at WCU is the opportunity for students to study abroad. Helping make that life-enriching and mind-expanding experience available to as many honors students as possible is one way you can support student engagement in the BHC. Each year, we offer travel scholarships to honors students to help them afford the additional cost of travel as they journey to their study abroad adventure. You can help us extend this support to even more honors students, helping encourage them and break down financial barriers.
Student leadership has been a foundational attribute of the Brinson Honors College. Now celebrating our 25th year as an honors college, we continue to invest in leadership development for our students and rely on them to lead the way as we set course for the next 25 years! Annually, our students have wonderful opportunities to engage in student leadership conferences and presentations, listen to inspiring speakers, extend their professional networks, and learn about graduate and professional school opportunities at leading research institutions. However, our current ability to support student travel costs is very limited. You can partner with us to help extend these opportunities to more students by supporting the Dean's Fund.
Our honors students are engaging in the western NC region in meaningful ways, starting in their first semester at WCU! The BHC is intentional about helping connect our new students and emerging leaders with their new WNC home. Each year our Honors Board - the Student Leadership council for the BHC - offers honors students with the opportunity to apply for a Community Service Mini-Grant. Small grants, typically $100 - $500, are put into use by our students to complete a special project in the local community. Often these projects connect to students' academic and personal goals. By supporting the Dean's Fund, you can support our Student Board's effort and help us increase the impact our students can have in meeting the needs of the region.
