Knox “Buddy” Porter (B.S. Ed. ‘77) took the skills he was given at WCU and used them during a 40 year career in education. Initially a social studies teacher, he became fascinated when immigrants began entering his class in 1980.  Culture was no longer limited to the text, it was enhancing the school. Mr. Porter created this scholarship in remembrance of his 30 years of teaching in Georgia public schools.
