Dr. N. Leroy and Judy Kauffman Endowed Scholarship

An endowed scholarship fund honoring Dr. Leroy Kauffman in recognition of over 45 years of teaching.

A recipient of the Old North State Award, Dr. Kauffman has dedicated his career to education.  His students have gone on to leadership roles in public and private businesses, non-profit organizations, and a wide array of professions.  Western Carolina University has been the academic and professional home to Dr. Kauffman since 1994. He will retire from Western Carolina University in December of 2022.

Dr. Kauffman has been a CPA for 25+ years and has spent more than 45 years in higher education at various institutions.  He has served in a variety of roles in higher education ranging from faculty member, department head, and Dean of the College of Business at Western Carolina University.  He has served on the board of directors for several not-for-profit organizations.  Dr. Kauffman has published several scholarly articles and given a variety of presentations on managerial related topics. Dr. Kauffman earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from The Ohio State University, an MBA from the University of Montana and a B.S.B.A from Eastern Mennonite University. 

Gifts to the Dr. N. Leroy and Judy Kauffman Endowed Scholarship will provide critical support to students studying in the FORVISs Accountancy Program in the WCU College of Business.
