About

This year, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is excited to share two new ways in which you can give back to WCU and make a difference in the lives of current students which reflect the institutional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: the Charles W. Warner Fraternity & Sorority Life Scholarship and Fraternity and Sorority Life Campus Representation. Every day we make decisions that have the ability to impact others. Today we hope you decide to be a part of the continued fraternity and sorority legacy. Your support of one (or both!) of the above initiatives will have a lasting impact and ensure future students can take part in transformational experience that is fraternity and sorority life.

WCU Charter Day of Giving 2022

Join alumni, faculty, staff, students, friends, and community members on Thursday, March 10th to celebrate WCU Charter Day and our 150th anniversary!

Your gift will help drive our initiatives forward, like the Charles W. Warner Fraternity & Sorority Life Scholarship and the Fraternity & Sorority Life Campus Representation project. All gifts – no matter how big or small – make a difference.

All gifts made now through March 10th will count towards our larger goal of raising $150,000 in support of student success across campus.

Your gift will directly impact student leaders, will help to continue the WCU Fraternity & Sorority legacy, and will contribute to creating a visual representation of our community on campus.

Thank you!

Campus Representation - Plaque Wall

Campus Representation of the 34 chapters will show our organizations history and impact to the WCU community. A “plaque wall” located in Sykes Student Union will depict each chapter’s name, national crests and founding dates. As our plans have already been approved, your support of this initiative will allow us to put our ideas in motion! Next time you come to WCU, you will be able to proudly remember your chapter involvement as you visit the wall in Sykes – a visual representation of our impact to campus

Charles W. Warner Fraternity and Sorority Life Scholarship

For more than 30 years, Charlie Warner was a dedicated and significant contributor to the West Chester University community. In fall 2020, Charlie retired from WCU, leaving behind a lasting legacy. Throughout his career as the Director of Greek Life and Student Organizations, and later Director of Student Leadership & Involvement, Charlie served as a mentor to countless student leaders.  He also served as International President of the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors and as General Secretary of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, the highest volunteer role in the international organization. We will never truly know the limitless impact Charlie had on WCU students.  He changed the world through his work because he believed in every student’s ability to become a leader. The Charles W. Warner Fraternity & Sorority Life Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student active in a fraternity or sorority.

"As the first generation in my family to attend college, I remember all too well how difficult it can be to even afford the basics of a university experience.  I was fortunate to be a founding father of my chapter of Beta Theta Pi, but with it came expenses.  I was lucky as I had grants, loans and a part-time job that helped me afford my membership, but not everyone is as lucky.  My membership also provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with thousands of fraternity and sorority leaders at West Chester University, who through their involvement, created their own experiences. And yes, ultimately, my membership provided a career-defining experience and life-long friends, many of which I am honored to say are former students.   I've always believed that fraternity and sorority should be available to all, including those who lack the funds.  I hope you will join me in helping create scholarships so that the cost of joining is no longer a barrier for those less fortunate than us."
