About

Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! Support one of these projects today or give to another area that helps the School of Social Work.

Dean's Scholarship

The Dean's Scholarship will be used to stem the increasing debt of graduating students while simultaneously creating scholarship dollars that can be provided to social work students annually, in perpetuity.

Maryann Mahaffey Endowed Scholarship

Maryann Mahaffey was a professor at WSU School of Social Work from 1965 - 1990 and also served for many years as a member of the Detroit City Council. Ms. Mahaffey had a long history of advocating for the rights of women and minorities. This scholarship was established to provide educational opportunity for students committed to social change and social justice to concentrate in community justice and social action.

Finish Line Fund

This fund supports students that are close to graduation but in need of additional financial support to register for their final classes, “cross the finish line”, and earn their degree.

Student Emergency Fund

The purpose of this fund is to provide limited emergency financial assistance to currently enrolled social work students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of, but not limited to, temporary hardship such as fire, flood, theft, or natural disaster, etc.

Private Scholarships

You can also designate your gift to a School of Social Work private scholarship (view full list here) by clicking "Give Now!", choosing "Other" in the Designation drop down and writing in the private scholarship you would like to support with your Giving Day contribution!
