CFPCA Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship

“This scholarship has not only given me the opportunity to continue my education, but it has also instilled confidence within me that I have what it takes to succeed in this field. I'll continue my studies with a new perspective on what I can do, and how I can make a difference.” Nora Rhein, Public Relations major

Established in 2006, the CFPCA Alumni Association was the first alumni group to create an endowed scholarship fund for its students. In its history, the fund has supported more than 15 CFPCA students from all disciplines of the college. CFPCA's alumni include Pulitzer prize-winning journalists and nominees for the Grammy, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe, Obie, Screen Actors Guild and Caldecott awards.

Like many of you, so many of our successful alumni found their creativity and passion in the College of Fine, Performing and Communications Arts at Wayne State University. This Giving Day, we hope to raise $5,000 for the CFPCA Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship. Make your gift today to support our mission and improve the lives of our current students.

Hilberry Gateway

Newly constructed, the Hilberry Gateway project ushers in a new era of live performance in Detroit. Years of planning have helped sharpen the vision for this performing arts complex in the heart of Midtown. And now… designs were finalized, ground was broken, the stage has been set and our doors are open.

The Hilberry Gateway facility has opened for performances with Broadway blockbuster, Cabaret, directed by interim chair, Michael J Barnes. Daring, provocative and exuberantly entertaining, Cabaret explores life of Bohemian Berlin as the 1920s draw to a close.

More than a performance space, the facilities build on our nearly 60-year legacy of performing arts education. A training ground for actors, dancers and musicians, designers, stage managers and theatre managers, the Hilberry Gateway is the latest evolution of Wayne State’s outstanding performing arts programs.

Fine, Performing and Communication Arts Dean’s Fund

Today only, your donation to the Fine, Performing and Communication Arts Dean’s Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts Board of Visitors – up to $5,000.

At the Wayne State University College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, we are a diverse, innovative community of story tellers, makers, and creators. Our students design, innovate and explore through their programs of study. And we all work together toward meaningful change in Detroit and around the world.

Through our efforts, students gain life-long skills by exploring opportunities outside the classroom that will allow them to be successful anywhere, behind the scenes, in front of the camera or onstage.  You are investing in our students, city, and communities, which deepens our global impact in media and the arts.

You can help create learning opportunities for our creative students and allow our college to invest in high impact learning experiences such as travel and study abroad opportunities, research opportunities, housing support and paid internships. Now more than ever, private support for student success initiatives remains a priority. Our students depend on support from alumni and friends like you who understand the value and impact of the Wayne State experience.
