The Information Warrior Journal
The School of Information Sciences is proudly launching an exciting new initiative: The Information Warrior Journal is the first of its kind, carefully curated, peer-edited student publication. The publication is yet another example of practical, hands-on experience for students in a fully online program, with the inaugural issue to be published later this spring.
Composed of research articles, case studies and literature reviews, The Information Warrior Journal will give access to information about significant issues in the library, archival, and information professions. Associate Professor of Teaching Kim Schroeder commented that, “The volume of strong work that would cross my desk was impressive, but my frustration was that I was often the only person who would see this effort. The student-led peer-reviewed journal is a way to create access for the students’ work and introduce them to the peer review process.”
This is an excellent opportunity for student authors and editors to gain practical experience in publishing academic research and regularly producing a scholarly journal. The initial work of the team of senior editors, and now junior editors, along with peer reviewers and authors has been a beautiful effort throughout the School of Information Sciences. The student editors are working with the University Library System’s publishing arm which is providing both expertise as well as a virtual home in the University’s Digital Commons.
The senior editorial team consists of student leaders Kirsten Cessna, Melissa Moore, Lindsay Pulsipher, Ginny Schneider, and Hannah Grant. These editors work with faculty advisor Kim Schroeder and an editorial advisory board consisting of both faculty and professionals in the field.
Please join the team by supporting The Information Warrior Journal. Gift funds will offset direct production expenses and provide modest honorariums for student authors and editors. Thank you in advance for supporting our Information Warriors!
