Ronnie Hopkins, the president of Voorhees University, has vowed to take our institution to the next level of excellence. He has defined the next level of excellence as broadening the institution’s academic offerings by increasing graduate degree programs. He plans to develop the Becoming Beloved Community initiative fully. The initiative will be home to the Rural Community Development Center, the Social Justice Institute for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Environmental Justice Institute, and the Center for Women’s Empowerment and Advancement.
President Hopkins is focused on sustainability for the campus by cultivating nearly 200 acres of land to be used for solar and organic farming. His plan is for the university to positively impact children and youth in Denmark, Bamberg, and other towns in rural South Carolina. Our students will be involved in these programs through service and experiential learning.
