The prospect of six-figure medical school debt can be daunting for aspiring physicians who need support to achieve their dream. That’s why School of Medicine Dean Art Saavedra, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., has challenged alumni and friends of the medical school to increase their impact this Giving Day. Thanks to support from the dean and the McGlothlin Scholars match, the first $25,000 in gifts to the School of Medicine Annual Fund will be matched $2 for $1.
When you support the Medicine Annual Fund, you assist in creating scholarships to help:
- Alleviate the burden of medical school debt, which topped $300,000 or more for 26 students in the Class of 2024.
- Recruit the most talented students to study on the MCV Campus.
- Support the next generation of physicians, preparing them for careers that will transform the lives of their patients and communities.
- Reinforce the School of Medicine’s commitment to make medical education affordable for all.
