As part of the “On Native Ground” initiative, the Humanities Research Center has created an Elder-in-Residence program to provide cultural, academic, social and spiritual support to students. The Elder-in-Residence will meet with students individually, lecture in classrooms and meet with campus faculty and staff. When you support the Humanities Research Center General Fund, you:
- Help foster strong relationships between VCU and Indigenous communities locally and nationally.
- Support opportunities for the Elder-in-Residence to mentor VCU students.
- Strengthen students’ sense of community and expose them to different perspectives.
- Provide opportunities for students to learn about Indigenous traditions and languages as well as concerns within Indigenous communities.
