About

Help us launch the Geringer Distinguished Lecture in GIS and Public Policy!

The Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center is excited to establish a new annual speaker event for students and the broader community centered around the impact of geographic information systems on the development and implementation of policymaking supporting public interests in all aspects of society from public health and safety to agriculture, transportation, and land and water resource management.

We are honored to name this new endowment in recognition of former Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer, a long-time champion of geospatial technology while in public office as a legislator and governor, in the private sector as a Senior Director with ESRI, and in his service as a member of the National Geospatial Advisory Council and for the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations.

WyGISC Director Jeff Hamerlinck is pledging a personal donation of $1000, while the Wyoming Geospatial Professionals Organization has pledged an initial $2500 gift with an additional 1:1 match of the first $2500 in donations.

We look forward to hosting the first Geringer Lecture at UW in spring 2024. Thank you for your support!
