The Phi Beta Kappa is one of America's most prestigious honor societies and has celebrated excellence in the liberal arts and sciences and championed free thought since 1776. UW's Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa is a proud member of that tradition.
UW's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was chartered in 1940, but we haven't participated in Giving Day before! We are launching this effort to fund events and scholarships that recognize high academic achievements and include a wider range of participants.
Here's an example of what your gift could support. Annually, we have awarded scholarships for outstanding presentations at UW's Undergraduate Research and Inquiry Day. We have funding in place that allows us to honor students who are already Phi Beta Kappa members, but we are not able to use it to award non-members. Giving Day funds for scholarships and events like Guest Speakers can benefit members and nonmembers alike and won't have to be restricted.
Thanks to your donations, scholars will have more opportunities for recognition and participation. Our goal is to have 50 donations, so any amount helps!
