Your Giving Day donations to the Department of Modern and Classical Languages have statewide and worldwide impacts:
Our World Languages Day event the first weekend of March draws students from all corners of Wyoming to the UW campus to demonstrate their language skills, to participate in informative workshops, and to communicate and increase their language proficiency. Donor funds are used to pay for student meals, t-shirts, and workshop materials.
Día de los Muertos, held the last weekend of October, draws statewide community participants and UW students, faculty, and alumni to the American Heritage Center to explore traditions of the Hispanic world through documentary films, poetry readings, art, and altar projects. Donor funds allow wide-ranging audience access and participation by providing culturally relevant materials and supplies to study the art, music, and culture of this yearly festival.
Modern and Classical Languages is one of the largest sending units for Study Abroad opportunities at UW. Students earn UW credit in classes led by our own faculty to China, Germany, Japan, and several Latin American Countries.
Merci, Danke, and muchas gracias for making worldwide travel possible for our students and faculty!
