About

Help us celebrate 80 years of UVM's Nursing program, and the amazing achievements of the students and alumni who have gone on to make the world a better place in so many ways.

In to celebrate this milestone, we are looking at not only how far we have come but also where we are going. The future brings us opportunities to help support the current needs of our students so they can enter the profession with confidence to serve the ever-changing challenges of patient care.

And, to help us make our goals for the future of this program a reality, one of our amazing generous alumni has offered a dollar-for-dollar match to help inspire more of our alumni to make a difference by giving back. So, for the next $20,000, any gift you make to support the UVM Nursing Program will be matched dollar for dollar.

Your support could be used in several ways:

  • Student internships in healthcare organizations:

Students earn and learn over the summer. Working side by side with other health care providers they get a keen insight into life after graduation and in many instances earn much needed funds to pay for next year's expenses.

  • Food shelf for nursing students:

It's hard to believe, but it's true: some of our students are hungry.  In their 3rd and 4th year most, students live off campus. The financial stress of rent, transportation, books can leave the pantry empty. We currently utilize Department funds to purchase food for students in need and hope to expand our ability to offer support.

  • Dynamic Manikins in the Clinical Simulation Laboratory:

Students practice their skills in clinical simulation laboratory utilizing manikins in place of real live patients. These manikins are costly and also require annual maintenance.  Funds are needed to support this critical piece of their education.

  • Technology Needs:

Much of the lab work requires iPads for students and many classrooms need enhanced technology with screens to be placed in classrooms that are more conducive to active learning.

  • Student Travel to Conferences:

Several students need financial support for travel to national conferences. Some will present their research as well as participate in workshops with students from other nursing programs across the country.

We hope that you will consider showing your support to these important initiatives.
