Marilynne R. Wood Community Fund

Dr. Marilynne Wood, professor and director of the RN-BSN program at The University of Toledo College of Nursing will retire in June 2019. In recognition of Dr. Wood's many accomplishments within nursing and public health, we have created the Marilynne R. Wood Community Engagement Fund.
It’s impossible to list all of Dr. Wood’s many achievements. She has been a champion of lead research among school age children and has tirelessly worked with state and local legislators to remove lead paint from rental properties in Northwest Ohio. Most recently, Dr. Wood was awarded a grant from Cardinal Health and has used those funds to educate Toledo Public school children, educators and area residents about the dangers of prescription drug abuse, particularly opioids, which have lead to more deaths in Ohio than automobile accidents. Working with the UT/Community Opioid Task Force,

Dr. Wood has also provided teach-in materials to over 200 educators, which will give area students the resources they need to protect themselves and their families from the opioid crisis.

Throughout it all, Dr. Wood has worked with UToledo College of Nursing students and has demonstrated that nurses are not just health care providers, but they are also important members of their communities.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Wood and ensuring her legacy continues on by making a contribution to the newly established Marilynne R. Wood Community Engagement Fund. Your generous contributions will support faculty and student projects that are aimed at collaborating with the community to improve the health and well being, particularly of children and families.

Thank you and Go Rocket Nursing!!!
