The Texas Politics Project is a hub of non-partisan activities designed to cultivate informed understanding of and engagement with Texas government and politics. These civic education efforts combine research, educational, and public affairs activities, including the University of Texas/Texas Politics Project Poll, the longest running academic Texas public opinion poll in the state.
Contributions to the Texas Politics Project will help support paid undergraduate research assistants who are trained in hands-on research and communication skills as part of the Texas Politics Project’s newly expanded public website, a public resource that shares polling and other Texas data with educators, students, the public, media, policymakers, and government affairs professionals.

Undergraduates working with faculty and staff at the Texas Politics Project gain firsthand experience in monitoring the political process in the state, and working with primary data and other research material. They gain practical skills in research, writing, and analysis that they can use as they pursue careers in politics, government, and public affairs.

This ongoing initiative aligns with our internship service and training programs, such as the biennial Legislative Internship Seminar, which enables students to learn from and build relationships with Texas political professionals.
