The vast majority of Celts arrive on campus with expectations that they will study abroad sometime during their undergraduate career at University of St. Thomas, but most students, by far, aren’t able to make this dream a reality. The financial cost of study abroad is cited as the number one factor holding students back from participating in this high impact educational experience. Your donation can help ease the financial burden of study abroad and allow more students than ever to participate.
Study abroad is considered by many to be an essential component of a liberal arts education in today’s increasingly small global market. To make study abroad more affordable and within reach of Celts, we offer the First Year Experience Study Abroad program. Freshmen have the choice of traveling to one of two global destinations, rural Costa Rica or Rome, Italy, to explore themes related to Catholic Social Teaching, build and deliver a service-learning project in the host country, and explore the local area with fellow students and a team of mentors, including a faculty, staff, and student member. Students earn two-credit hours that goes towards their undergraduate hours, while learning more about the mission of the University of St. Thomas, here and abroad.
All funds raised will be used to provide scholarships for freshman to participate in FYESA. In our first year of FYESA, we were able to provide partial scholarship support to almost two-thirds of our students. Your support will allow more students to participate in this signature program at UST. Please join us.
The Faculty/Staff Challenge for $2,500 and the Alumni Donor Challenge for $5,000 have been unlocked! See the complete list of challenges at UstGivingDay.com.
