Join us as we celebrate and commemorate our proud past and bright future of Women in Athletics at St. Thomas! This National Girls & Women in Sports Day we will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal funding. It was enacted on June 23, 1972 and gave women many more opportunities to play sports at the collegiate level.
This celebration is also an opportunity to support St. Thomas women’s athletics to advance our culture of excellence in Division I.
St. Thomas Athletics fosters future female leaders in the Twin Cities, the State of Minnesota, and around the globe. A strong foundation for women’s athletic programs will ensure that we can provide generations of young women with opportunities to succeed.
We believe in the power of sport in the lives of young women and the enduring lessons preparing student-athletes for success in their careers and life after college.
