USM President Glenn Cummings has led the University through an incredible transformation, setting institutional records in out-of-state enrollment, improving student retention, launching the largest construction project in USM history, and laying the foundation for a new Center for the Arts, all while putting USM students at the center of every decision.
We hope you'll join us is honoring Glenn with a gift to salute his many successes as he completes his tenure as president of the University of Southern Maine.
On May 6, the eve of his last USM commencement, we hope to surprise Glenn by announcing a named space in his honor in the first-ever Portland campus residence hall. Glenn’s particular passions for sustainability and for seeing Maine students succeed are at the heart of this ambitious campus redevelopment, and the project would not have been possible without his vision and tenacity. Our goal is to raise at least $100,000 from Glenn’s friends and family to name a prominent space in his honor in the first-ever Portland campus residence hall.
We hope you'll join us to be part of something that is worthy of the exceptional leadership President Cummings has displayed these past seven years.
PS. As we all know, Glenn is a lifelong educator. Two years ago, he and Leslie created an endowed scholarship fund to support aspiring elementary educators in honor of his grandmother, Christine Cotton Lockery Cummings ’27, who was a graduate of USM’s predecessor institution, the Gorham Normal School. Friends or family who wish to honor Glenn by contributing to this fund are also welcome to do so.
