Social Justice through Virtual Reality: Supporting Student Research in Computer Science
We're doing innovative things in virtual reality here at USF!
One of the things is the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCI Lab). The Lab is carrying out research into implicit gender and racial bases by embodying users in different genders and racial identities in virtual avatars using full body tracking. Students also do research into brain-computer interfaces that detect, analyze, and respond to users' cognitive workload in real-time using machine learning techniques.
Without donor support like yours, this wouldn't be possible. But we want to be able to expand the opportunities in this field and we hope you will consider making a gift to help us do that. Your gift will fund student research assistants who will help carry out this research, as well as equipment for cutting edge technology.
At USF CS, we embody the mission of USF, with a high proportion of women and students from underrepresented backgrounds, in the HCI Lab and in the program. We all work as a team to Change the World From Here! Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting this important research!
