The Department of History explores the past, seeking to understand how people have made the world, live in it, and seek change. We also examine what people do with memories and stories of the past, examining ideas of heritage, values and identities in our complex and diverse social, political, economic and cultural worlds. History students think effectively about change, both change that has already happened, and change they seek in the world. Working with evidence, students develop reading, interpretive, and research skills vital to many future professions. Studying history hones skills in listening, speaking, writing, and communicating analysis and insights.
Your support provides invaluable resources that provide department scholarships for students, bring speakers to campus, and allow students to travel to conferences and historic sites.
