First Generation Family

The purpose of our campaign is to develop and establish additional support for first-generation students, whose parent(s) have not attained a 4-year college degree. These students have no or very little family collegiate history and are entering college with limited knowledge about traditions and patterns of college life and academia. 

First Generation Family is dedicated to developing ways to support U of R first-generation students to adjust to new environments, lifestyles, and academic traditions. Your donation helps our community create the visibility it desperately needs. 

In addition, First Generation is devoted to being a support group and resource for first-generation students to help them understand and utilize their academic and community resources. Our goals include creating year-round events, helping students finish their community engagement requirement, and providing an opportunity to meet with alumni, faculty, K-8th students, and other first-generation college students that are from the university that can generate a network of successful, strong-minded individuals. 

As of 2022, the University of Redlands has a first-generation student population of 48%. Your donation to First Generation Family will help us identify these students and provide them with any resources they may need.
