Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

Gifts to diversity and inclusion initiatives at UNCW help foster an enriching and inclusive academic environment for all Seahawks. You can provide increased funding for cultural centers and resource offices, diversity scholarships, programs, and academic support through your support. Your gifts help create an inclusive and supportive environment for student success and provide more opportunities to attract, retain and empower diverse communities. 

Listed below are the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion priority areas:

• Campus Diversity Support Fund – supports diversity initiatives and experiences that touch all facets of campus.
• Upperman African American Culture Center Fund – provides support for dynamic programming and mentorship opportunities and encourages students to develop an appreciation for their heritage, legacies, and histories. At “The UPP,” students find support, resources, and a space where they can feel valued and connected.
• Centro Hispano Trust Fund – Helps create a space that offers culturally relevant experiences that deepen cultural awareness, develop leadership skills, and prepare our students to engage with the community through social and service activities. UNCW’s Centro Hispano links students and the resources available for their academic growth and professional development.
• LGBTQIA Support Fund – Mohin-Scholz Resource Center strives to create a safe and inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community and contribute to a culturally rich campus. The Center uses the LGBTQIA Support Fund to raise awareness and inclusion of sexual and gender minorities and provide information, referrals, support, and programming.
