About

Owls On The Move is a physical activity challenge to raise funds for the UMPI Cares Fund at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.  The UMPI Cares Fund was recently created to provide emergency assistance for undergraduate students at UMPI, including assistance for housing, heating, travel, books, clothing, and medical, dental, and mental health expenses, or other emergencies for which the student has no other source of funds. Rather than being restricted to just a 5k, we encourage any type of beneficial activity whether its a run/walk, taking a spin on some wheels or completing a workout.

We hope to have 50 participants or more join us in supporting this new fund!

How it works:

  1. Register for the event by making any donation amount
  2. You will receive an email from us with your Start/Finish printables (this is not an automated email)
  3. Walk/Run a 5k, put in some miles on your bike, complete a thirty-minute or more workout of any type
  4. Take a selfie with your Start/Finish printables and post on social media with #umpiowlsonthemove also please send your photo to craig.cormier@maine.edu
  5. We'll share your support during UMPI's Virtual Homecoming 2020!
  6. Funds raised will be deposited into the UMPI Cares Fund

This event is open to everyone - you do not need to be a student, faculty, staff, or alum to participate.

Please be sure that you are healthy enough to safely complete the physical activity you have selected.  If you have any questions, please consult your physician.
