"I began my UIndy story in 1998, enrolling in the School of Business to earn a bachelorโs degree in Economics/Finance. The opportunity to receive the Deanโs Scholarship and to grow in a small campus environment located in the largest city in Indiana was very appealing to me as a resident of a small community in northern Indiana. During this time, I had many experiences that contributed to where I am and who I am today. Upon graduation, I was well-prepared for not only a career path in banking, but also to make an impact in improving the quality of life in the next community where I would be living. Looking back now, I am very grateful to be in a position to make an impact in othersโ lives and in the lives of those living in my community. I have had opportunities to participate in local charitable boards, as well as being part of a local church membership and service club. The theme of giving time towards community interests and betterment was greatly influenced by the time spent on the Hanna Avenue campus and being part of a special community there. The education I received also helped provide me the opportunity I now enjoy as a leader in the Indiana community banking industry today. UIndyโs goal of providing a well-rounded influence in my growth and development is still making a big impact in my life today. Thank you UIndy!"

"I understand how valuable it is to receive even the smallest amount of money through scholarships. I still remember the impact and it drives me to financially give back. Ultimately, the academic piece can transform your life and that is what it did for me. I want to give that experience to the students."

"Without the financial assistance I received when I was at Indiana Central College (now UIndy), I would not have been able to get my BS in education until much later. While working a full-time job, I first attended night school for four years, accumulating a year's worth of credits. The grant I subsequently received from ICC enabled me to complete my education as a full-time day student at Indiana Central College during the next three years. After I graduated in 1967, I was an educator for 39 years. Go Greyhounds!"

"My scholarship to UIndy laid the foundation for where my family and I are today. It not only allowed me to be the first member of my family to graduate college, but it has also allowed me to provide a life for my family that I never imagined. Coming from a background in which money was a factor, my scholarship allowed me an opportunity I would have otherwise never had. The relationships I formed during my time at UIndy will last a lifetime and were very important in molding me into the man I am today. This is all thanks to the scholarship that I was so blessed and fortunate to earn from the University of Indianapolis. Go Hounds!"

"As a first-generation college student, I knew that going to a private, liberal arts institution was going to come with financial challenges. I made a last minute decision to enroll at UIndy when I found out that there was an opportunity to audition for a theatre scholarship as a theatre major. With that scholarship, I didn't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses to attend UIndy. During my time at UIndy, I spent so much time learning about myself, celebrating the diversity around me, and finding that I had a passion for leadership and student-engagement. Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from UIndy led me to pursuing a career right here at UIndy, my favorite place in the world. Serving students as an academic advisor and adjunct faculty member is a dream come true, and it would have never happened without the financial support of the scholarships I received. It's a humbling and gratifying experience being able to live out UIndy's motto, 'Education for Service.'"

"I am retired now, but my UIndy (Indiana Central) nursing degree has enabled me to assist in supporting my family. We have lived many places in the US, and also in Japan and I have always been able to get a job in different areas of the nursing field and help many with medical questions and concerns. Some of my closest friends are still my friends from college. I cherish my friendships and memories from UIndy!"

"I am so proud to call myself a UIndy Alum. I am so appreciative of the mentors that I had while I was a student there because they helped to solidify what career path I wanted to follow. I am currently a fundraiser and raise support for resources and opportunities that enhance student education. Thanks to my education and my work experience at UIndy I am able to work in a field that allows me to give back to those seeking an education. I believe that education is the most valuable asset someone can have and I am glad to be a part of higher education."
