As a part of the Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, our mission with Black Community Initiatives (BCI) is to seek to uplift communities at the University of Denver. We are guided by the question, “How can we ensure that Black-identified faculty, staff, and students not only choose DU but also feel a profound sense of ownership and belonging here?”
Your support ensures that community members and those who want to engage with the African diaspora can fully experience programs like the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration, Black History Month, Juneteenth celebrations, and Scholarly Show & Tells.
As part of Giving Tuesday, DEI is asking for your support of the Black Community Initiatives (BCI) Gift Fund. This fund supports BCI providing access to resources, community engagement, and programming that celebrates Black life, culture, and history.
As a contributor, your funds help our communities: Attend national conferences for professional development Improve supportive capacity for units, departments, and initiatives across the university Connect our community members to local Black communities in a mutually beneficial relationship Uncover and highlight the stories of past and current Black faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students.
Your gift, small or large, empowers our communities by strengthening essential support programs for them. Your donation will contribute to the following:
- $5 provides coffee/tea for meeting with community members needing support
- $10 provides a meal $25 provides support for 45 minutes of archival research about Black DU History
- $50 provides materials for a Black History Month program
- $100 provides support toward building an emergency fund
- $250 provides a stipend for a faculty, staff, or graduate student to attend a writing retreat, conference, or immersive professional experience.
Your generous donation will assist the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with our commitment to advocating, celebrating, and supporting our communities at DU.
