Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death globally, affecting millions each year. In the U.S., approximately 1.9 million new cases are diagnosed annually, with over 600,000 cancer-related deaths. The lifetime risk is about 1 in 2 for men and 1 in 3 for women, meaning cancer touches nearly everyone. Effective treatment is crucial for improving survival rates and enhancing quality of life. However, traditional therapies often come with severe side effects and high costs.
Our project seeks to change this. We’re developing a safer, low-cost treatment that minimizes suffering. Our research focuses on natural molecules—amino acids, the most abundant chemicals in the body—with the remarkable ability to selectively kill cancer cells without harming normal tissues. Our findings show that these amino acids inhibit tumor growth effectively, with no observed side effects since normal tissues can process them without harm. You can review our primary results here: Integrated proteomic profiling identifies amino acids selectively cytotoxic to pancreatic cancer cells: The Innovation
To validate this promising treatment preclinically, we are raising funds to continue our research. This could reduce cancer treatment costs from over $1,500 per week for chemotherapy to just $50 per week! Your support can help bring this treatment to clinical trials, offering better options for millions of patients. Together, we can ensure our loved ones have access to safer, more affordable care.
