We are the Climate Conscious Corps, a sustainability-focused group of Korbel School students passionate about engaging and educating the DU and Denver communities about the many interconnected ways climate change affects us all.
We think outside of the box, creating innovative events and experiences that address environmental justice, zero-waste living, climate democracy, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing, and more! Over the past year, we’ve hosted a climate migration simulation, a climate democracy panel discussion, and quarterly hikes to help faculty, staff, and students connect with nature.
We are currently planning the first-ever University of Denver Climate Conference on May 1-2, and we need your help! Dean Mayer has allocated base funding for the conference, and it’s up to us to raise additional funds to bring our full vision to life. Your support will help us:
- Increase capacity: Current funding allows 100 participants to attend at no charge and covers modest complimentary food. Help us increase our registration capacity to 250 people!
- Zero-waste: Our goal is to leave no trace. Often, the most affordable dishware and plasticware are made from single-use plastics and other wax-coated non-compostable products. Help us pay a little more so we can practice what we’re advocating for every day!
- Keynote Speaker: We’re currently planning to have two plenary sessions, and we’d like to welcome a notable keynote speaker. Help us subsidize or cover their travel costs and accommodation to make it easy for them to say yes to joining us in person!
Your gift to the JKSIS Student Sustainability Initiatives Fund will empower CCC to deliver a dynamic and engaging conference, and any additional support beyond the conference budget will enhance other CCC initiatives throughout the year. Thank you!
Our goals: 30 donors and $3,000
This is our first fundraising campaign, so we want to set a realistic goal while still dreaming big. While we could put an additional $5,000 to great use, we realize we’re just starting out. Thanks for helping us get there by giving an amount that’s meaningful to you.
Making a Difference
We are at a crucial time when climate action is desperately needed. As administrations and priorities change, what remains is our need for solidarity to address what is impacting our community. We invite you to be a part of our journey to create lasting change.
