On 1DAY4DU, support a key element of The Denver Difference campaign with a gift to campus and community programs that strengthen democracy, pluralism, free expression and civil discourse. Research and thought leadership reinforce democracy and lessens polarization. DU builds on that impetus and cements itself as a model university for pluralistic thought and preparation for engaged citizenship through a uniquely hands-on experience and vibrant approach to interdisciplinary collaboration.
Examples of programs that you will support through this initiative include:
Civic Debate Across the Curriculum
Formalize Debate Across the Curriculum to scale our growing debate program, equipping all DU students with the tools, principles, and experience to engage in healthy debate for the practice and promotion of intellectual diversity and civil discourse.
The Denver Dialogues
Expand the Denver Dialogues with more conversations, more partners and greater frequency to model robust and constructive conversations on major issues facing the nation and the world. Expansion of the Denver Dialogues will include greater participation from high-quality speakers and adding a significant extension of the student engagement surrounding each Dialogue
University-wide Debate and Lecture Series
Establish the University-wide Debate and Lecture Series to bring speakers to campus, whether as individuals, pairs or in groups, with the express goal of modeling civil discourse while creating opportunities for students to model and utilize the skills
Convening A National Summit on Pluralism
Bring together the pre-eminent setting for educators, researchers, students, thought leaders and civic practitioners to convene around the topics of civil discourse, free expression and thought pluralism.
All DU students will benefit from the Free Expression and Pluralism Initiative. You can make a difference in our community and globally with a gift on 1DAY4DU to support DU as a leading university in pluralistic thought.
