About

Support the advancement of refugee and immigrant communities by making a gift on 1DAY4DU! Immigrants are nearly twice as likely as native-born U.S. citizens to become entrepreneurs but knowing where to start and how to navigate complex U.S. systems is essential to launching any successful business. The Center for Professional Development’s Business Development Certificate Program helps new and hopeful immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs do just that. Through expert mentorship and training in business plan development and financial, legal, and brand planning, this no-cost program helps students start and grow sustainable businesses and make their dreams a reality.

The Business Development Certificate Program is offered by University College, DU’s College of Professional and Continuing Education. University College has decades of experience supporting the diverse needs of working professionals through bachelor’s completion degrees, graduate certificates, master’s degrees, continuing education, and personal enrichment. The program, which has served more than 50 students from over 25 counties since its inception in 2020, pairs University College’s mission of providing high-quality skill development with University of Denver’s commitment to the public good. The outcome is an innovative and impactful opportunity for each participant.

Your gift makes this program available at no cost to students and allows us to expand access in our community. $550 covers the program cost for one student, but a gift in any amount supports an aspiring immigrant or refugee business owner in adding essential business skills to their toolkit. Make a gift on 1DAY4DU and create opportunities for the changemakers of tomorrow.
