As one of the nation’s top 3 school of professional psychology, DU’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) meets critical mental and behavioral health needs across the Denver-metro area: more than 30% of Psy.D. practitioners in the region are DU graduates. GSPP’s comprehensive programs, including Clinical Psychology, Sport and Performance Psychology, Forensic Psychology, International Disaster Psychology, and Sport Coaching, demonstrate our dedication to serving vulnerable populations, including military and Veteran communities, alongside their children and families. Your gift to GSPP on 1DAY4DU will help bring positive change to the mental health system. Fostering a culturally sensitive and skilled workforce, we equip our students with tools to effectively serve individuals from diverse backgrounds and to deepen well-being across Colorado communities.
For example, one field partnership is with Friends of Guéoul, a non-profit that empowers female students in Guéoul, Senegal to achieve academic success and build a life for themselves. In a region where education and female empowerment are not a priority, due to severely impoverished conditions where basic human needs are barely affordable, these scholarships give these girls a chance at a better life. By developing expertise in global mental health through internships like Guéoul, our students expand a necessary workforce to support low-resource communities, address stigma regarding mental illness and mental health care and expand treatment models beyond the traditional Western understanding of disease and recovery to best serve these communities.
GSPP students will be the direct recipients of your generous support, thereby giving THROUGH the University of Denver directly TO communities most in need. A gift of $250 will go far in providing the necessary training and resources to support meaningful mental health service delivery; give more and that investment will pay exponential dividends! Invest in our community on 1DAY4DU to support our ongoing local and global work to bridge the need gap in mental health service delivery and workforce pathway development!
Thank you to CROSSFIRST BANK for their generous $5,000 matching gift to support the Psychosocial Trauma and Recovery Student Initiative Fund!
