Stella was devoted to the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) and loved working with students to assist them in their goal of attaining a degree. As Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Services and University Registrar, she and her team helped transform UAB to a comprehensive academic enterprise before retiring from UAB in 2011, after 32 wonderful years of service.
Friends and family have established the Stella Cocoris Memorial Scholarship to honor her legacy. Should this fund meet the minimum endowment level required by the Alabama Board of Trustees, it will fulfill our goal of creating a permanent legacy for Stella and will assist students pursuing a degree in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences with a preference for those majoring in English. Preference will be given to first-generation, underrepresented and Pell eligible students.
Stella’s Family & Friends hope you will join them in their efforts to assist students, who might not otherwise be able to attend college and receive a degree. Scholarship support ensures that our students are able to set aside their financial concerns as they focus on their studies, empowering them to make a difference in their careers and communities.
